wastemap: A new web tool from rmi and catf to track and reduce global waste methane emissions

At the start of COP28, we’re very excited to amplify Clean Air Task Force and RMI’s launch of the Waste Methane Assessment Platform, or WasteMAP. It’s an open-access online tool for decision makers all over the world - particularly at the municipal level - that allows you to see methane emissions from waste and features a decision support tool based on this data for policymakers, landfill operators, and other stakeholders, allowing them to establish baseline methane emissions and then model waste diversion scenarios and see the emissions reductions.

Postscript: RMI published a handy walk-through of the tool

Here’s an example of the decision support tool, which is available for some areas - you can toggle the diversion scenarios and immediately see the results in the corresponding methane emissions projections.
